Assassins will be like stronger warriors with more speed, but no adrenaline attacks and little defense. It will STILL be balanced, not "elite" warriors. They are just balancing out the magic:melee ratio. I mean we have 2 melee classes right now and 4 magic classes. Assassins will have their own seperate weapons... the "dual wield" will be in sets; it doesn't mean you can have 2 Firey Dragon Swords. Probly double dagger/knife/katanas.So basically if you have warrior sub using their weapons, almost all the skill will be useless. Just like RANGER!!!

Wanna know what's next?

Hand-to-hand man or Two-Handed carnage!!!

It's already possible with a r/w. Throw in poison and you're a winner.

Of course, an RPG isn't grounded in reality, but to say it doesn't "feel" right ignores the fact it was commonplace.
Sure, sure... but we're not talking ninjas.

Oh god, I hope not.

I vote for "Splashdance"!

Don't turn this into another level cap thread, please! It's a horrible idea and should die here and now.

Ack! Sorry, I see my sentence is not very clear...

I meant why limit the new content for level 20 chars only... in other words, why not have a whole new world to take you from level 1 to 20.

I was NOT suggesting to raise the Level Cap.

Well, look at what we have already:

Monks, Elementalists, Mesmers, Warriors, Rangers, Necromancers.

These are very generic names which adequately describe the playing style (Mesmer = mesmerizer).

We all knew a stealth melee type character was missing from GW.

What would you call it instead of "Assassin?"

I still laugh at people that play r/w's because they couldn't figure out how to deal decent damage with their ranger.

YOU dont sound appropriate to be fit to be a man!!! *laughs*

A ranger is a warrior with more power/less armor and range. Assassins will sacrifice this range for even MORE power and speed.

Default Stealth!

As much as I'm dissappointed about the new class being as cliché as this, I've got a great idea about how stealth can be applied in PvP.

The character does not dissappear, but he can untarget himself. Here's how I suggest they do it.

Primary attribute would be stealth. Each (20 - Stealth Attribute) seconds, the stealthed player is un-targetted by enemy players (does not happen for friendlies). For PvE, it's a matter of aggro circles reduced. There would also be skills linked to the attributes that would instantly un-target (a 5 mana 2 seconds recharge skill) to pass it up to another friendly, a (10 mana 10 seconds recharge) that would untarget (most likely failing a long cast spell unless he re-targets in time). A (15 mana 20 seconds recharge) that would untarget and render unable to target anything for x seconds. And maybe a large upkeep enchant that would simply render the assassin impossible to target (ends when the assassin uses any skill). Maybe some skills like Hide Others that would make a friendly also untargettable would be a good idea (I like the idea of Assassins running around hiding monks to protect them).

Maybe they could also make this dependant on Adrenaline, so the Assassins would have to keep fighting to protect their monks.

I'm not sure they'll give Adrenaline Skills to Assassins or leave it Warrior only.

Still, there needs to be some ways to trigger "critical hits" (besides Striking from Shadows, or whatever), so maybe Adrenaline will carry over...

Stealth can be functional in PvP, rogues work in World of Warcraft. I'm not saying ANet will implement them that way, I'm just saying that it's possible and I'm sure that IF stealth is a direction they are going with this class, they'll have a logical way to implement it.

I can't see how anyone can knock a profession we don't even have details on, yet. All I (and others) have written about it are simply avenues they (Anet) could explore for skills, etc, doesn't mean they will use any or none of them. It could be something completely different. So how can you judge whether it would be PVP worthy?

Mimi, chill out!

Well for starters, professions are designed to work in both, so the skills that people have been talking about like "reduces aggro circle" are not ever going to happen... there's no PvP equivalent to an aggro circle.

I'm merely suggesting people stop salivating over the PvE aspects of the profession and start thinking about both, because that's what Guild Wars is about.

Last why would anyone want to "bleed out" an opponent? You kill them, period. None of this silly garbage you see in anime or the movies.

Ontopic,

If they make the assassin anything like it is in other games, its going to be funny, Overpowered backstab and stupid high dps ftl.
im sorry did you study japanese histopry at all ? Most Samurai swords where 4-7 foot long... They used the simple mechanics of Gravity and balanced stances so the hefting of teh sword would not cause an imbalance.. (not teh far foot placement of samurai stances) . raise sword in a half moon from ground up and use teh simple equation strength +gravity + soft fleshy part = cleave... As for ninja.. yes they used what was at hand... but most of their weapons they brought were short range... and a cut to the throat is not a kill move but a bleed out... you cut both arteries and the person bleeds out in the matter of seconds....

High School History FTW.
